So to answer a few questions: yes I have my kids with me...2 six year olds and a one year old. We are actually stuck in Madrid Spain, which isn't a bad little city to explore if you have no options. The train suggestion would be a great one except the train workers are on strike in France and the only way to get to Germany from Spain is through France...it just gets better and better, doesn't it? As far as compensation from the airline, it's really not their fault so they aren't offering hotel money or train fare, we are sort of on our own in that department.
We have a flight booked for Wednesday morning but who knows if the airport will be open by then. The boys are happy and doing well, they are excited to miss some school and feel like this is an "adventure." Hyrum is a little stressed about work because he hates having to cancel and reschedule 3 days of patients, but I'm sure it will work out fine.

Poor shell! At least you have Hyrum, can you imagine if you were alone with the kids. France sucks too, did you know that in Hungarian france is a swear word? In my opinion Iceland can go to France

ReplyDeleteYou are right, there are worse places to be stuck. I have a friend in Iceland. He says those close to the volcano have zero visibility. Day, Night, it's all the same. I do hope you get back home though.

ReplyDeleteAs you probably know we are also stuck in Spain. If the airways open up maybe we could get together is Sevilla. Or maybe we could work together to get out of here. We have done a bit of research about driving. It cost about 2500 Euro to take a car across the border. Worst case scenario maybe we could rent a huge van, drive to the border take squishy taxi ride to France etc etc. With all 4 drivers we could drive through the night.
