Trip to the States: Oregon

Our final adventure was a solo trip up to Oregon, just Hyrum and I.  We left the boys with Oma.  I was a little hesitant to leave her with all three boys for so long but she is such an amazing woman and she can handle anything my boys get up to.  They were pretty good for the most part and when we got back to Utah Emerson said, "mom, can you go on another trip so Oma can watch us again?"  I think she must have done something right because my boys are not easy to tame:)

Hyrum had an interview up in Oregon, just outside of Portland in a town called Hillsboro.  We leave the Army next year and we are already looking at our options as far as where we want to live when we get out.  The clinic he interviewed at was great.  It is a group of about 6 doctors and they pay pretty well and have great benefits.  We still don't know what we are going to decide but hopefully it works out for Hyrum to work there.

Why Hillsboro Oregon?  Well, Hyrum has a sister that lives there and I always thought it would be great to live close to family.  Also, we love the Pacific Northwest.  It's so nice to have the ocean and the mountains just a few hours away.  Portland is a great city with lots to offer and is only about 30 minutes from Hillsboro.  Overall, we just think it would be a great place for the next phase of our life.

While Hyrum was at his interview Katrina and I got pedicures...so fun.

We went to the coast for a little mini vacation.  This is the view from the balcony of the hotel we stayed in.  Yeah, that's the ocean right outside our door:)

It was so beautiful and peaceful here.

On the way back to Utah we stopped in Idaho to say hello to some good friends.  We knew Dan and Krystal Knorpp from our med school days.  Krystal made us a fabulous dinner, she is such a great cook!  They now have three beautiful kids, Marly, Sophia and Ollie.  It was so great seeing them and catching up with how things are going.

We stopped in Boise Idaho to say hello to Hyrum's brother Jacob.  This is Hyrum, Jacob and Jason with Jacobs two dogs.  It was nice seeing him, even if it was for just a few minutes.
