Pumpkin Carving...a little early

After our fun trip to the pumpkin patch the boys wanted to carve their pumpkins the very next day.  We tried to tell them that the pumpkins would turn old and moldy by Halloween if they carved them on October 8th, but they were pretty excited and so we let them.

Here are Emerson and Townsend scooping out the "guts"

The finished product.  The one on the left was Emerson's and he wanted to design and carve it all himself.  I think he did a pretty good job.  The one on the right was designed by Townsend but he wanted Daddy to do the carving.

The spooky jack-o-lanterns at night

We did just throw these pumpkins out last weekend, they were getting pretty black and moldy.  Lucky for us, Julian never carved his pumpkin so we still have a chance to make a jack-o-lantern for Halloween:)

I know this photo has nothing to do with carving pumpkins but I couldn't resist.  Almost every evening, when it's not raining, I walk over to the train station with Julian.  He loves to watch the trains go by and it only takes about 10 minutes to walk over there with him.  He plays on the un-used tracks...just in case you were wondering why he is on the train tracks in this photo.

Love those pumpkins...they looked great! The boys (and Hyrum) did an awesome job.
