We had a few inches of snow fall this last week so we took the opportunity on Valentines Day to go for a little walk in the woods near our house. It was just beautiful because the sun was out and shining through all the trees and the snow made the forest so quiet.
It would have been the perfect walk except our little Emerson decided that he was not having any fun at all and so for the entire walk (which really only lasted about 30 minutes) he was crying and saying he wanted to be carried and his legs hurt and he was cold...you get the picture.
I sometimes wonder why we even try. As parents, why do we insist on dragging our kids around old cities, forest hikes, walks around the lake. All they really want to do is stay inside and watch tv or play Uno. I have to believe that at some point in the future they will appreciate the fact that Hyrum and I tried to expose them to the outdoors. I can only hope that for every complaint that is made a happy memory is also formed somewhere in the recesses of their little minds.
